当法人のスリランカ出身スタッフ ニシュミが、市民おもしろ塾で「スリランカと日本の文化の違い」について講演しました。講演では歴史や特産物について触れ、日々、このエリアのインバウンド誘客に取り組む中で感じている「この地域のインバウンド観光への可能性」から、日本と異なる文化への理解を深める「あっと驚くスリランカと日本の文化の違い」まで、写真や動画をお見せしながら話しました。

参加者は、日本との文化の違いなどに耳を傾けて関心を寄せ、会場一体でスリランカへの理解を深めていきました。

参加者からは「とても興味深い内容だった」「スリランカを旅行してたみたいで行きたくなりました」との声が寄せられ、当法人の活動のひとつである受入態勢整備・異文化理解について考えていただく機会になったのではと考えています。

以下は、講演したニシュミのコメントです。

To be honest, it was a challenging task to speak for 2 hours on my own. But it was a great opportunity to put my Japanese language skills into practice and introduce Sri Lankan culture and AST to the locals here. I didn’t have much confidence at first, but it turned out to be fun and more enjoyable than I had imagined thanks to the words of encouragement and support that I received from both my colleagues at Akita Shirakami Tourism and the Omoshirojuku team. I also had a great audience and appreciated their questions, responses and feedback. In particular, I would like to extend my gratitude to the elderly gentlemen who talked about Sri Lanka’s role in the Japanese Peace Treaty at the 1952 San Francisco Conference – a historical incident unknown to many Sri Lankans and Japanese alike.

I will continue to learn and hope to improve my language skills further so that I can communicate more efficiently and discuss all sorts of topics with everyone here. I look forward to seeing other foreign lecturers aside from me in the future as well!

正直に言うと、2 時間も 1 人で話すのはきっと大変だと思ってました。 しかし、私の日本語能力を実践し、スリランカ、スリランカの文化とあきた白神ツーリズムの活動をここの地域の方々に紹介する絶好の機会でした。 最初はあまり自信がありませんでしたが、おもしろ塾の皆さまやあきた白神ツーリズムのメンバーからの励ましや応援の言葉のおかげで、想像以上に楽しく過ごせました。 また、多くの聴衆がいて、彼らの質問、回答、フィードバックに感謝しています。特に、1952 年のサンフランシスコ会議で日本の平和条約におけるスリランカの演説について話してくれた年配の紳士に感謝の意を表したいと思います。

私はこれからも学習を続け、語学力をさらに向上させて、より効果的にコミュニケーションを取り、ここにいるすべての人と様々なトピックについて話し合うことができるようにしたいと考えています。今後も私以外の外国人講師に会えるのを楽しみにしています！
